Memento Stones: Part Two

The earlier post on momento stones were from Wethersfield, CT and these are from Milltown, Alabama and LaFayette, Alabama, both in Chambers County where many of the Riser family have lived. These are all about 200 years later than the stones in Connecticut.

The design motif on the majority of these stones are hearts and dashes.

This is my favorite. It is a large flat stone with a circle made up of parallel dashes. This was one talented stone carver.

Dashes within and outside the heart

It is rather strange to look down and see your birthday on someone's tombstone.

This one is about the rust.
