Ken Gahagan after Roger Lewis

This is Ken Gahagan's rendition of the "Roger Lewis gun", Robert Nittolo collection.  The original of this gun was owned and possibly made by Lewis in 1756 in Farmington Conn. In this copy the barrel is 52" all round 28 gauge smoothbore by Getz. The lock is custom made as per the original by the maker as well as all brass hardware including the buttcap, sideplate triggerguard, and thimbles. Stock is curly maple stained with nitric acid, hand scraped, burnished and an antique finish applied. This piece will be on display at The 18th Century Artisans Show Feb 3-4, 2012  at Lewisburg, PA.

Photos supplied by Ken Gahagan and copy by Robert Weil.
