Leather Holder for Wicker Covered Bottle by Ken Scott for David Parish

This is a rattan covered bottle that I covered (I wanted a lot of the rattan to show thru).  I added an 18th Century decoration of a Pennsylvania German tulip for decoration. The design was "Poker etched" (burnt) into the leather.

Copy by Ken Scott that was photographed at the 2012 CLA Show by Jan Riser. The last photo is by Ken Scott.

    1. Leather covered bottles have been around for quite some time.the Spanish had them, also the Italians. Canteens can be documented back several thousand years. These canteens were often covered with leather to protect them during our American civil war. I have no documented leather covered bottle that I used as reference for this. I simple answered a friends rewuest to cover his wicker wine bottle with leather. I took his wicker covered bottle and put the leather cover and carry strap on it so it wold protect his bottle. My apologies if this caused confusion in your mind.

    2. Leather covered yes, with carry straps? I have yet to see this documentation. I believed that this blog was for people copying original authentic items. This IS very misleading, very disappointed.

  3. very nicely done id imagine its just one step up from carrying it by hand every where some one decided to add a strap as they did with wine skins
