Wood Canteen by Eric Armstrong

I made this canteen from two pine shells, lathe turned, wax coated on the insides and glued together. I painted it, aged it with stain and beat it up a little. The iron bands are added to protect the corners. The bands and strap holders were "browned" with a rusting solution and, then boiled in water to blacken them. The stopper is turned from maple, painted, rubbed back with stain and "distressed" a little. The "graphics" represent David Alden, who was at Saratoga, and later at West Point at the time of Arnold's betrayal.
